Andriy Dragan

Andriy Dragan was awarded the Credit Suisse Jeunes Solistes 2009 and  1st Prize for the Prix Collard of the Kiefer-Hablitzel Foundation in 2013.

Born in a Ukrainian musician family, Andriy Dragan started playing the piano at the age of four. He was promoted by his parents and was already trained at a young age by Professor Lidia Krych in his hometown Lviv Krych. At the young age of 12years, he was able to perform as soloist with the Lviv orchestra, founded by the conductor Gunhard Mattes, in his home country and in Switzerland. With the support of Gunhard Mattes, Andriy Dragan studied with Prof. Adrian Oetiker at the Basel Music Academy.

During this approximately 10-year study period in Basel with a degree to the concert pianist, he regularly took part in competitions. Among numerous successes, the "Credit Suisse Jeune Artist 2009" award is particularly worth mentioning.

Andriy Dragan lives today in Basel. Andriy received a wide range of international engagements while studying as a soloist and chamber musician at the Basel Music Academy. Inclusive of these engagements, the Lucerne Festival 2009, the Verbier Festival 2013 and in “Artist in Residence" at the La Roque d'Antheron 2013 festival.

Andriy has been inspired and motivated by artists like, Zoltán Kocsis, Piotr Anderszewski, Elisabeth Leonskaya, Dmitri Bashkirov, Ferenc Rados, Klaus Hellwig, Hung Kuant Chen, and Alfred Brendel.

The love and curiosity about classical music are the drivers for his current education in conducting at the Lucerne Music College with the renowned English conductor Howard Arman.

Andriy Dragan has been a guest at various festivals such as the Verbier Festival, La Roque d'Antheron, the Gstaad Menuhin Festival and the Annecy Classic Festival. He has appeared in concert venues such as the Stadtcasino Basel, the KKL Luzern, the Tonhalle Zürich and the Philharmonie Lviv.

Andriy Dragan is an incredibly dedicated and virtuoso artist who likes to share his talent in modesty - and therefore, rather, his play, passion, and talents speaks for themselves.
