After her education at the "School of American Ballet", Myrna Kamara became a member of the New York City Ballet in 1984. During this time in her career, Myrna Kamara danced in choreographies by George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, Peter Martins, Elliotfeld and Lar Lubovitch. There followed a short detour to Europe (Bonn, Germany). In 1991, she danced as a soloist with the Miami City Ballet and received much applause for her performances in various Balanchine Ballets. From 1996 to 1999 she danced as a soloist in the company of Maurice Béjart. Very quickly she entered numerous of his ballets, among others. "Ballet for Life" (Le Presbytère). After the time in Lausanne she continued her career as an independent artist. She worked successfully with renowned choreographers such as. Taylor Corbett, Daniel Rosseel, Yanis Pikieris, David Palmer, Paulo Manso de Sousa, Susanna Egri, Gheorghe Iancu, Vladimir Vassiliev, Renato Zanella and Luc Bouy.

 

Kamara’s most notable work include her performance in "Aida" (Arena di Verona); her work with Placido Domingo for his gala evening "Carmen" and the performances of "Aida" in Japan; Her performance in Franco Zeffirelli's "Aida" at the Scala in Milan; An evening event for Bulgari in Terme di Caracalla in Rome with Roberto Bolle and Andrea Volpintesta: with the express permission of the Balanchine Trusts, she danced two Balanchine Pas de Deux's at the Gala des Ètoiles in Luxembourg; and appearances at the two closing ceremonies for the 20th anniversary of the "Miami International Ballet Festival".

 

Currently, Ms. Kamara teaches and supervises dancers. She works specifically with ice skaters who participate in elite competitions and encourages and elevates their work and performance on the ice to achieve their best artistic levels. For this she works on their line, coordination and technology. Ms. Kamara is the founder and performing artist of the dance company "balletXtreme".
